Isn’t she stunning? I love the artsy, neo-classic-Audrey Hepburn-look of this sweet gal. Eden is a very creative and talented girl in more ways than one. I have had the privilege of photographing her family the past couple of years so, once again it’s a pleasure, and a little extra fun to celebrate this milestone with Eden!

Sarah is Graduating!

Sarah is one talented girl! This summer she won the Fargo-Moorhead Ladies All-City Golf Tournament. Golf is definitely her cup of tea!

Sarah will graduate this year from Shanley and I’m sure her sweet golf skills will lead her to all kinds of adventures! Congratulations Sarah!

Erin + Chris= Mr. and Mrs.!

Erin and Chris were an absolute delight! These two are from Bismarck, but live in the beautiful, lush land of Oregon. Since Erin was a college room mate to one of our 2009 brides, she had seen our work and was excited to have us celebrate with them! And what a beautiful celebration it was! We found Erin and Chris and their families to be so gracious and simply delightful company!

Erin and Chris had their first kiss on stage, so not only are they kind-hearted, but they possess a bit of dramatic spunk, making them game for any adventure.

We were able to spend some time at the Capitol Grounds, as well as St. Mary’s. And later, we celebrated at the Radisson in downtown Bismarck. Now the new Mr. and Mrs. are back on the west coast…I’m already scheming a plan to go visit them. Until our next photo adventure, we send our congrats, cheer, and blessings your way!

Mama & Son

This is not the first time I have photographed these two beautiful faces. Every time I get a chance to photograph this little guy, I am amazed at how much bigger and smarter he is. Little B was just fascinated with the fountain and throwing coins in it. He would have done it the whole time if we would have had no where else to go. We managed to lure him away to explore downtown, where we got some more great shots, found some flowers, admired some neat sculptures, and enjoyed the zesty Fargo winds.

D Family

I had the opportunity last week to visit the D family at their home and take some fun photographs! The whole family was game for whatever and had ideas to share. Their youngest was so enthusiastic in front of the camera–she could be my side-kick anytime with all her ideas she had for posing! And despite all the skeeters and face/neck/leg/arm-slapping :) we got some great shots! So you guessed it, not only did we walk away with some great shots and a few laughs, but we all have a few mosquito bites to remember the night.

Andrea + John

We met Andrea and John last weekend at their outdoor Ottertail, MN wedding. Andrea has friends and family that have worked with us before so there were lots of familiar faces at their wedding, even though Andrea and John were new to us. These two are from the area, but live in Michigan. And we couldn’t have been more delighted to meet them and catch a glimpse of their personalities: they are both lots of fun, full of smiles, a little on the goofy side (just how we like ‘em), and easy-going.

And we had another beautiful Saturday, this time at Thumper Pond Resort in Ottertail, MN. The lake and the resort were perfect settings for a wedding. Every detail of their day was elegantly organic and lush with shades of green and raspberry and a beautiful view of the golf course and fountain. Outdoor weddings are hands-down my favorite setting for a ceremony, but it’s always a risk in this country. But Saturday gave us no worries as far as the weather which allowed everyone enjoyed each part of this celebration!

Nicole and Adam are Married!

Scott and I spent Saturday in the lovely Walhalla, North Dakota, with Nicole and Adam and their families. Nicole and Adam are a very sweet couple, so kind and considerate with a flare for the romantic. Adam’s proposal was very well thought out, and definitely displayed his ability to romance Nicole. Nicole, is a nurse. Need I say more? She is so full of care and concern for others, very organized, and fun to be around. Their friends were a lively bunch making the day more festive for everyone!

And what a lovely setting for a wedding. Lookout Point, Sanctuary Guest House, and Frostfire Ski Resort were the highlight locations of the day.

Sam & Adam Tied the Knot!

Starting our wedding season off with Samantha and Adam was a real treat! (Her gorgeous smile and freckles, his enthusiasm, their bridal party’s spontaneity, their family’s support and creativity…every detail made my job fun…and leaving Mira with Grammy, for the first time, easier than I had thought.) After spending the day with these two and their families I realized where the plethora of Sam and Adam’s creativity and talent come from–it runs thick in their families’ blood, on both sides! From the special numbers at the reception to the energetic participation from every family member that attended, we caught a glimpse of the theatrical, musical, and sentimental side of these two and their roots.

Sam is an amazing singer and she tickles the ivories and Adam is a rocker–on bass–and a bit of a jammer, I learned, when he started the dance with a wicked sweet duet with friend, Chris S., on the saxophone. Adam also has a twin brother, so when you look at these photos, you aren’t seeing double–just double the Nies goodness!

I must also add that Scott and I have never been to such a hoppin wedding dance. The floor was packed and by the second song people were body surfing (something Sam did earlier in the day :) and busting sweet moves all over the place!

Gosh this day was so much fun! Enjoy this glimpse of the start of their love story as Mr. and Mrs.!

This year, June 20th, is Scott’s first Father’s day! Last year, we found out we were expecting on Father’s Day weekend! Being a Dad is definitely worth celebrating. That’s why we’re going to have a little fun with a new type of artwork we carry…

Almost Two!

Little J is almost two years old! And he is ALL boy! (he made me excited for the possibility of having a little boy one day!) In the short time I was with J and his family he pulled his wagon, visited the dog, hauled some plants with Grandpa, played catch, pushed around a little wheelbarrow, smelled the flowers, “drove” truck, ate fruit snacks, and played drums with the kitchen pots and pans! I love this age: the energy, the curiosity, and the playfulness. J, I wish you a very happy second birthday and years of joy with your sweet family!

The “B” Family

Last week I had the great privilege to photograph a very fun and artsy family: the “B” family. Ami is the principal designer for Firefly Design and Events. (They are a talented bunch!) Ami and David had a little girl just a month before we did, so it has been fun to savor these life changes together. Little “F” is just a sweet pea, and you sure can tell how loved she is by her family!

    What a gift of a day! We were blessed to spend the morning relaxed and spending time laughing and playing with Fuschia…it was the furthest from a stereotypical photo shoot…where you feel like your constantly acting…we would have spent longer at the park with Mosaic

little “C” and family

Little “C” is just full of antics! and you can tell Mom and Dad love every bit of him. Little “C” is a nephew of mine so it’s extra fun to take his photos. From ring around the rosies, to jumping, munching on Pez candies, and snorting like a pig, we had a few laughs, evident in these photos. It is such a privilege to capture family, especially my own, since they have an extra warm fuzzy spot in my heart. Love you guys!

We had several Mother’s Day sessions this last weekend to celebrate Mother’s Day and raise support for a local non-profit–the Perry Center. Paula and her boys came up for the occasion and I could not get over the big blue eyes of her littlest guy, “C”, and the chocolate brown eyes of her oldest, “N”. Even though “C” wasn’t too sure about this whole picture thing, we had lots of fun playing ball, exploring the studio, and eating “suck-ters” and apples. Thanks Paula for letting me photograph your super cute crew!

four generations…

I had the great pleasure to photograph four generations of family at our Mama Mia event on Mother’s Day weekend. Desirae was in a wedding we photographed last summer and she thought having a photo outing with her Grandma, Mother, Sister, and Son would be a lovely addition to their Mother’s Day weekend. Her little boy “J” is a charmer…he was full of smiles and super-hero powers!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Today I am thankful for Mothers, Motherhood, and the gift of children. And of course, it is so wonderful to have a day to celebrate my dear Mother. She’s fiesty, decisive, outgoing, a little on the wild side, and so much fun. I remember her doing cartwheels in the hall at school when I was in junior high, and all the speeding tickets, and stories of her travels and childhood. I remember sitting on the kitchen counter so many times while she cooked or baked. I remember her tucking us in, and just always being there. Mom, I love you! and I am especially excited to share this Mother’s Day with you because of our little treasure Mira! I love you Mom!

What would we do world, without our Moms?

Mother’s Day…Lot’s of Giving

We are just finishing up our maternity leave and looking for 10 family/children/sibling combinations to photograph this coming weekend (a perfect gift for Mother’s Day). For your $150 donation to Fargo Perry’s Center along with a new or gently used baby item, we will give you an in-studio photo session and $75 to spend. We love to give back to our community and the Perry Center is an amazing organization that helps women facing unplanned pregnancies. They provide a lovely home for the moms to live in, and help them with everything from doctor’s visits to educating them on motherhood. A New Look

It’s official! Scott gets a raise! As many of you know, my husband Scott, is the Principal Photographer for Little Beast Photography, the pet division of Mosaic, and he’s also Mosaic’s Technical Director (the brainy geek). But this last weekend he demonstrated yet another facet of his vast skills. He spent the day installing a new backdrop system in our studio ceiling. Mira came along too, to help, but she mostly slept as you can see below.

It’s been so much fun as we “re-model” the studio to see everything come together. Our new look should be complete by the time our Mother’s Day event, Mama Mia, rolls around. Hurray!
