February Beach Sessions in Mexico!
January 2nd, 2012Merry Christmas!
December 23rd, 2011Introducing…
December 10th, 2011Our little Elliana is here! She came so fast, we thought she was going to be born at home…I am so thankful for how fast our family responded as well as our birth coach and the team at Sanford. I don’t think the nurses even knew my name–they told me later I was there for 9 minutes before Ellie was born! Wowsers!

We are enjoying little Ellie and her big sister Mira, and appreciate your patience as we adjust to our new little one. I will be back April 1, 2012!
Updates on My Family…
December 1st, 2011The last few months have been wild, to say the least. We renovated our newly purchased 1896 home in downtown Fargo from floor to ceiling the DIY way in FIVE months! We are expecting our next little girl any day. And we closed our retail space in May to embrace my dream of designing a home studio. We launched a new look for our family artwork (www.family.mosaicphotography.net). We traveled to work abroad in October, and in August I had the opportunity to photograph families in central Texas at a gorgeous bed and breakfast in the hugely antique-crazed & artsy town of Round Top. Life has been fun and wild, and pretty much everything is new in our lives. We just finished unpacking the last boxes a week ago; I am just beginning to understand where our dishes and other belongings are after living out of suitcases and sleeping on the floor all summer and fall; and we still have a bit more settling and renovation to do, but the majority is behind us!!
With Christmas just around the corner we need your address!!
Have you moved or have you never received a Christmas card from us and want to? Well then, email me (alyssaflaten@mosaicphotography.net) your address and we will send you one. I am not promising an early arrival of Christmas cards–it all depends on when this little one chooses when to arrive–but we want to send out greetings as soon as we are able!
Oh, and if you want to update your address book, our studio address is now 608 9th St S, Fargo ND 58103

Many of you have been asking to see before and after photos of our home…they are now on facebook. There isn’t an inch of our house that didn’t get some sort of DIY facelift in the last five months. (We feel like we just finished a marathon, no, the Iron Man!) The photos below are just a tiny glimpse of some of what we have been up to.

Maternity Leave:
I have slowed down considerably this past month for the health of my baby and myself, but starting TODAY, I will not be checking emails or phone calls until after the holidays. (If you are still cwaiting for an artwork order I will stay in touch with you until Baby arrives.) I will SLOWLY be adding work hours to my schedule from that point on until I am back April 1, 2012, so I appreciate your patience as we focus on enjoying this exciting season in our family!
More about the Doeden family…. {Fargo Moorhead Family Photographer}
November 15th, 2011The Doedens are energetic, very ticklish, and they LOVE icecream! When I first met most of this crew, I was so glad that Tammy brought her three kiddos to the studio with her for our first meeting. It was fun to catch a glimpse of their personalities and hear their energetic input. I found out quickly that this family has a passion for icecream so I thought it would be absolutely necessary to incorporate that into our session. And we did! We had icecream, had lots of giggles, played on a tree swing, and just plain enjoyed the beautiful fall weather and each other!
You can see more of their session in the video here.
It was a treat, in more ways than one to photograph this family! I can hardly wait to see the beautiful artwork we have created to adorn their home and remind them daily of their love and the moments they shared together this fall!

More of the Okke family… {Fargo Moorhead Family Photographer}
November 12th, 2011I met Melody at the first “Unglued” craft fest last spring. She fell in love with our hand-made, re-purposed hand-bags and booked a family session with us. When we met and brainstormed ideas, and then re-connected for her session, I was impressed with the funky twist that resulted from our time together–evident in the Christmas card we designed below:

It’s always fun to put your heads together to come up with a fun session that is unique to your family and that is what we accomplished with the Okkes.

Now I can hardly wait to see the fun hand-bag from our time together!

the Stunning Harlee {Fargo Moorhead Senior Photography}
October 28th, 2011Harley is one busy and talented gal…and the youngest of the Glasow girls. I first got to know Harlee at a Girls Night Out for her sister’s wedding celebration. So I have taken photos of Harlee and her sisters a few times before. But this time it’s been all about her and the fact that she is graduating this year! She is absolutely stunning!
Enjoy this glimpse of our time together!

October 10th, 2011Amy and Nick are dear to my heart, because I got to tell the start of their lovestory when they got married almost 2 years ago, and now they have a little sweet pea which means I now have the opportunity to continue to tell their unfolding lovestory as their family has grown. Enjoy this little sneakpeek of their family time with mosaic.
a Peek of the Gronwolds {Fargo Moorhead Family Photographer}
October 3rd, 2011Sigh…what can I say? Another opportunity to photograph a beautiful family! When I first met Billy and Tanya about 8 years ago they were newlyweds. Now they have a house full of life, small giggles, and bundles of energy. Enjoy this sneakpeek video of the personalities that make up the Gronwold family.
the Debates {Fargo Moorhead Family Photographer}
October 2nd, 2011The Debates family is just as sweet as lemon truffle pie! (and if you know me, you know I love lemon truffle pie!) It’s evident that they are pretty keen on each other–and it was just a joy to spend some time with them at their lovely home a few weeks ago and we had all sorts of adventures…as you will see in this little SneakPeek…
Megan + Chad {Fargo Moorhead Wedding Photographer}
September 28th, 2011Megan and Chad are just plain fun. I have known Megan a while because she works at my chiropractor’s office. We’ve traded words about Mexico vacations and I thought for sure she would get married in Isla Mujeres, but she and Chad have decided for a wintry wonderland wedding at BlueStem this coming March, which will be just as fabulous!
I am so excited for their wedding and spending more time with them and my camera. It is going to truly be a treat to tell their lovestory. Speaking of which, here is the start of it.

I got a private tour of Chad’s tree nursery, at Paul Bunyan Tree Services. That was a lot of fun, and then we enjoyed some incredibly beautiful gardens, compliments of Chad’s father.
Congratulations you two!

September 26th, 2011The Swensons {Fargo Moorhead Family Photographer}
September 25th, 2011What I love about the Swensons is how they have fun together, and how much they love each other. R and K are like best buds. And Jamie and Dave just love their kids and each other. I first met Jamie through Bison Illustrated and have had the opportunity to photograph for their magazine, which is a lot of fun. Switching things up by photographing her family was an adventure. We played a little football, flew kites, savored lollipops, and did a little sidewalk chalk–as you can see from the previous video post and the following glimpse of their session.

September 9th, 2011The Holmquist Family
September 9th, 2011It’s always a joy for me to get a glimpse of the wildly fun, and energetic dynamics of a family. And the Holmquists definitely qualify in the wildly fun, and busy energy departments! I just adore this family! It’s such a treat to experience and document the laughter and playful exchanges between them from the youngest on up.
We had lots of fun picking apples, laying in the grass, playing with goldfish and frogs, and did I mention laughing?–we did lots of that too!
While watching this, I hope you catch a smidge of the joy that I caught from being with them last week!

Thanks! You obviously are very gifted to be able to capture the true spirit of this family. It gave me goosebumbs and butterflies. Of course each of them are very dear to me because I am their grandma.

Just beautiful, Alyssa! You are so very talented!!
